Home Enthronement

Let the Hearts of Jesus and Mary Reign in My Home!

Enthronement is a solemn act of placing God at the center of people’s lives especially the family. Bye enthroning and consecrating we are asking Jesus to be King of our family and Mary to be Queen of our home. Enthronement is a cause to establish the social Reign of the Sacred Heart in society through the family. It is based on Our Lord’s statement to St. Margaret Mary: “I will reign through My Heart!”

Jesus revealed His Sacred Heart as a symbol of His love for mankind saying: “My divine Heart is so inflamed with love for mankind….that it can no longer contain within itself the flames of its burning charity and must spread abroad by your means.”

The Home Enthronement program is an act of restoring Christ to the family and the family to Christ. To better understand why a family would decide to enthrone the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in their home, let's begin with a short explanation of each of the devotions.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus came into existence through a series of visions of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690). She was a religious sister in a Visitation convent in France. Jesus began appearing to her on Dec. 27, 1673, and told her that she was to become His instrument in spreading devotion to His Sacred Heart.

How Does the Enthronement Restore Christ to the Family?

Enthronement the family is putting Our Lord and His interests first. In return, the Sacred Heart takes over the interests of the family. He asked Saint Margaret Mary, to whom He revealed His Sacred Heart, that He be allowed to reign over the homes of the rich and the poor; that He be solemnly received as King and Friend, and that His Sacred Heart be honored and loved. “I will establish peace in their homes: I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life: I will comfort them in all their afflictions; I will bless all their undertakings.” Hence we may safely say that this is the means Our Lord Himself has selected to restore His sovereign rights over the family, and through the family, over society itself.

The Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart

Given by Jesus to St. Margaret Mary for those devoted to
His Sacred Heart

On July 13, 1917, Our Lady showed a vision of Hell, so horrible and gruesome, that the children shrieked with fear. After showing, them Hell Our Lady said to the children, "You have seen Hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to My Immaculate Heart.”

The Enthronement

It begins with a moving prayer ceremony. A priest presides at the ceremony, in the home, the family publicly and solemnly acknowledges that Christ is King of the home. The head of the family installs a picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in a place of honor in the home. After this solemn acknowledgment of the sovereign rights of Christ the King over the family, the members consecrate themselves to the Sacred Heart, treating Him as an intimate member of the family and as friend.

Devotional Family Practice
